Microsoft has an announcement planned for Monday, 18 June, and this announcement is rumoured to be the unveiling of a tablet device from the company.
Several reports have claimed that Microsoft will be manufacturing its own tablets, aimed at competing with Apple’s offerings, as well as designing the software for the devices. There is a potential conflict looming for the company if it does intend to enter the tablet market since it would put them into competition with partner companies like Acer, Dell and HP as well as Apple.
An analysis from ZDnet has also speculated that Microsoft may move in the direction of a device that would compete with Kindle’s tablets rather than taking Apple on head-on and potentially alienating partners in the process.
