RIM announces new COO and CMO

Research in Motion have added two new names to their management lineup, in the positions of chief operating officer and chief marketing officer.

Kristian Tear will be taking over as COO following a position as executive vice president at Sony Mobile Communications. Previously Tear worked for Ericsson, holding several positions within the company. Frank Boulben, formerly of LightSquared where he was employed as executive vice president of strategy, marketing and sales, will be taking the position of CMO.

RIM’s CEO Thorsten Heins said, “Kristian and Frank bring extensive knowledge of the rapidly changing wireless global market and will help RIM as we sharpen our focus on delivering long-term value to our stakeholders. Most importantly, both Kristian and Frank possess a keen understanding of the emerging trends in mobile communications and computing.”
