New iPad on sale today

South Africa is joining several other countries in finally getting their hands on the new iPad (iPad 3).

Local Apple distributors Core recently announced the finalised recommended retail pricing for the tablet, which will have the WiFi-only model priced between R4,999 (16GB) and R6,999 (64GB). The WiFi + 4G LTE (which isn’t supported in SA) devices will cost between R6,299 (16GB) and R8,299 (64GB). These prices are recommended only however and several local retailers are offering the new iPads at slightly higher prices.

“The new iPad features a stunning new Retina display, Apple’s new A5X chip with quad-core graphics and a 5 megapixel iSight camera with advanced optics for capturing amazing photos and 1080p HD video. The new iPad still delivers the same all-day 10 hour battery life while remaining amazingly thin and light.”

While the new iPad is on sale now the iPad 2 remains in stock, likely at a reduced price (depending where you shop, of course).
