Canon introduces EOS-1D C

Canon announced yesterday the introduction of the EOS-1D C, a new digital single-lens reflex (SLR) camera that is aimed at serving high-end image capture needs including those of the motion picture and television industries.

The camera is a variation of Canon’s EOS-1D X and manages to squeeze 4K recording (at a resolution of 4,096 x 2,160) into a compact frame. It can record at this resolution at a frame rate f 24p using 8-bit Motion JPEG Compression. It is capable of 1080p recording with a frame rate of 60fps.

Most of the EOS-1D C’s other specifications are identical to those of the the 1D X. It boasts an 18.1 megapixel full frame CMOS senor, 61 point AF system, dual DIGIC 5+ processors and dual CF card slots.

Canon has also pointed out that the EOS-1D C is compatible with more than 60 of the company’s EF lenses.
