When will SA get the ‘Taxi of Tomorrow’?

Nissan will be using the New York International Motor Show, which runs from 6 to 15 April, to demonstrate the NV200 “Taxi of Tomorrow“.

The 2014 model of the prototype vehicle that will be on show will become available in late 2013.The NV200 comes with a set of features designed around a connected life, including two USB ports and a 12-volt charging station for mobile devices in the passenger area. Interior LED floor lighting, rear passenger AC controls and a clear roof will come standard with the Nissan taxi. Antimicrobial seats will also form a part of the package.

The driver’s area will be fitted with a USB port for charging devices, a built-in GPS system, driver/passenger intercom, and a reversing camera. The car will also boast an “Active Carbon Lined headliner to neutralize interior odors.”

The cars will become the standard New York taxi in late 2013 after Nissan won a competitive bid to provide the vehicles to the city.
