Zeta Robotic Creations’ Kåre Halvorsen has released a new video showing off an improved version of his MorpHex transforming hexapod robot.
Despite the contraption’s unsettling resemblance to a Half-Life 2 headcrab, there are a range of possible applications for a spherical transforming robot. Exploration of cramped quarters is only one of these but, watching the video, there are definitely some military applications there as well.
At the moment Halvorsen is using this video to promote his entry into the Boca Bearings 2012 Innovation Competition.
