RIM not withdrawing from consumer market

Research in Motion (RIM) has stated that reports claiming that the company would be withdrawing from the consumer market are misleading and have emphasised that, while they will “…re-focus our efforts on our core strengths, and on our enterprise customer base”, the company would “…continue to build on our strengths to go after targeted consumer segments.”

In an effort to correct misconceptions RIM executives took to Twitter. Alec Saunders, vice president of Developer Relations at RIM, said, “@BlackBerry remarks were wrongly interpreted. We are not leaving the consumer market.”

Patrick Spence, RIM’s MD of Global Sales and Regional Marketing, also commented,  saying, “We remain committed to all of our Customers (consumer & enterprise) and are enhancing our support/solutions for enterprise.”
