Kinect for Windows 1.5, South African availability announced

Kinect for Windows will be launching in June for South Africa, among other countries, but before that happens the SDK will be getting an update to version 1.5.

The 1.5 update for Kinect for Windows is due at the end of May and will include Kinect Studio, which will allow devs to “…to record, playback and debug clips of users engaging with their applications.” A new “10-joint” skeletal tracking system is also being implemented, which will track a user’s head, neck and arms in either a seated or standing position.

The update will provide four new spoken languages for speech recognition, Spanish, Japanese, French and Italian. In addition several regional language packs that assist speech recognition will be included. Unfortunately South African English has not made the list just yet.
