Facebook has purchased a large number of IBM patents for an undisclosed sum, according to recent reports.
Bloomberg has reported that Facebook purchased a total of 750 patents from IBM, with a Facebook spokesperson reportedly confirming the deal with IBM for patents related to software and networking.
The purchase has not officially been made public but the patent acquisitions are thought to be in order to bolster the company’s defences prior to their upcoming initial public offering (IPO).
