Star Wars KOTOR II is coming to Switch
Nintendo is bringing another old-timey classic, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, to the Switch. Affectionately shorted to KOTOR II, the sequel to the widely-acclaimed RPG of the same name will receive a few updates, performative and aesthetic. There’ll also be post-launch DLC. That isn’t really more content, just stuff the original devs left out while they rushed the launch back in 2004.
If you don’t have a Nintendo Switch but still want to play the extra content, this fan-made mod on Steam will help you achieve that. While having someone take the time to put that together is great, an official DLC that includes the content fans should have received from the beginning feels better. KOTOR II is available to pre-order on the Nintendo Store now for R240 or you could just get the whole bundle for around R470.

Out of office? Have a horse respond to your emails
The folks in Iceland’s tourism office have had a spark of brilliance. Why bother with it yourself, when you can out-horse the task of writing up your out-of-office email replies to a trained horse. First, you’ll need to pick between one of three trained horses. We went with Hrímnir frá Hvammi based solely on his bio which reads “Assertive. Efficient. Shiny Hair.” Then you’ll need to tell your chosen pony some info. Fill out the form with your name, email address and the date you’ll return.
As you can imagine, the response probably won’t be very intelligible to anyone that can’t read horse (in Icelandic). But that doesn’t really matter, does it? You can lay back on a lounger sipping your beverage, knowing that loads of people are going to have a lot of questions. But only when you return to work.

Get your kids into golf without breaking anything in the house
Aspiring young Louis Oosthuizens can now practice their swing in Niantic’s Safari Par-Tee. It’s an AR golf game developed by Trigger. It uses the same tech from Niantic that powers Pokemon Go. The free app is available on iOS and Android. Players use their smartphone cameras to scan out their physical environments and the app turns that into something resembling a golf course. The catch? It’s officially sanctioned by the PGA.
This is strongly aimed at children – the animal avatars gave that away – so don’t expect to turn your living room into Muirfield or the Old Course at St. Andrews. Still, if AR games are still a novelty to you it could be worth a stroke. Or two. The game has a few multiplayer options, like playing with your family or other players in real-time over WiFi.
The game features an introduction to the fundamentals and differences in play styles. Sari Par-Tee is supposed to be available for free on Google’s Play Store and Apple’s App Store but it wasn’t available (yet) at the time of publication.

LG’s Star Wars TV is cool but you’ll never own one
This limited edition Star Wars TV is only for the most die-hard Star Wars fans. LG is only producing 501 units of its special edition 65in C2 OLED TV. LG didn’t say how much they are or when they’ll be available but the regular sets go for $2,300 (R36,000) so it’ll likely be more than that. They’ll also be exclusive to the US so you’ll need to pull some strings to get one here. The launch is presumably meant to coincide with the launch of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Disney’s latest Star Wars project on its Disney+ streaming service.
LG has added flairs and touches to the TV set and remote to give it that Imperial feel. The new TV has slightly brighter metallic parts and there’s even an Imperial crest on the back. LG says users turning the set on will be greeted with Darth Vader’s unmistakable heavy breathing. He’s presumably stoked you’ve joined the Dark Side. LG has also pimped out the Magic Remote to make it look like Vader’s lightsaber. And for those of you asking why 501 specifically, that’s a nod to Darth Vader leading the 501st Legion in the Galactic Empire.
