Telkom’s fibre upgrade areas revealed

Yesterday Telkom announced it plans to offer around 11,000 of its existing DSL subscribers the option to upgrade their connection to fibre for free and try out a pair of its fibre products for two months, also at no charge.

Now the company has provided a list of the areas that are eligible for the campaign. The deal applies to consumers currently using a 2,4 or 8Mbit/s DSL service from Telkom and doesn’t apply to businesses. If you’re one of those customers Telkom says it’ll be getting in touch with you to see if you’re interested in participating in its fibre trial.

The trial sees eligible consumer’s upgraded to fibre and given the change to try out Telkom’s 10 and 20Mbit/s Fibre services. At the end of the trial consumers are not obliged to upgrade to one of the services offered during the trial, but Telkom is of course hoping they will once they’ve had that sweet, sweet hit of the fibre life.

  1. BUT HOW?? How do we sign up? or get selected?

  2. What area in Cape Town is surrounded by the following suburbs: loevenstein on the left, Plattekloof at the back, and Welgedacht on the right?

Answer: my house in Welgemoed where the ADSL line speed is diabolical.

    Thanks for nothing!

    • Try living in Welgelegen. 2mb maximum, we are km away from any exchange so the true speed is closer to 1.5mb on a good day. I’ve given up. Not even LTE available. Just nothing.
