DJI’s little Neo 2 drone launched a relatively short while back, but we’ve already got a decent idea of what the Chinese company is doing next. The drone-maker’s next two flyers are the DJI Lito 1 and Lite X1, according to certifications passed by the FCC in the States.

There’s even a timeline for the two drones to launch. They’re expected to land in the second and third quarters of this year, with full reveals for the flying camera hardware happening closer to the time.

DJI casts the Lito

The two drones are expected to replace DJI’s existing ‘Mini’ lineup, with the Lito 1 stepping into the R7,000-ish hole that the company’s Mini 4K drone is about to leave in shopfronts. The Mini 5 Pro will leave a larger hole — around R19,000 with the flight controller — but it’ll be filled, according to reports, by the Lito X1.

Which gives us approximate price points for these compact drones when they are announced — import tax, currency exchange, and general industry mayhem depending. Features coming to the little drones are: 360° obstacle avoidance, LIDAR, and infrared sensors, a range of up to 20km (using O5, with 500 metres possible over WiFi), as well as autonomous and voice control flight modes included.

The DJI Lito pair will apparently be compatible with existing Mini batteries, with between 30 and 50 minutes of flight possible depending on battery size. The DJI Lito 1 will feature around 22GB of internal storage, the Lite X1 gets around 42GB, and both will accept SD cards, so you can film for your whole 50-minute flight.

All that’s left is the drones’ actual appearance and launch date, something that DJI hasn’t yet revealed. Though technically, it hasn’t revealed any of this other stuff, either. We can thank the FCC and the folks who leaked component information to New Camera.
