Facebook clocks one billion users in a single day for the first time
Facebook officially has all the numbers. Earlier this week a full seventh of the planet – not the connected planet or a specific age group, the entire planet – spent time on Facebook in a single day. In other words, over 1 billion people were on Facebook this past Monday, a new milestone for the company according to Mark Zuckerberg. So if you were one of those people (we definitely were – goes with the territory) then you’re one in er… seven, we guess?

Redmond’s Lumia phones are sighted once again
We’ve caught glimpses but these new images of Microsoft’s Lumia 950 (bottom) and 950 Xl smartphones looks like press shots of the production models of Redmond’s yet-to-be announced Lumia flagships. The styling isn’t anything unusual for Lumia, where they’re going to grab attention is that they’re likely to be the first Windows 10 Mobile handsets. Oh, and the great big specs lists they’re reported to have. We should see them in action come October at Microsoft’s upcoming event.

This is NASA test-firing a 3D-printed rocket injector
What, you need an explanation for this? There are large green flames, rocket components in action and nothing explodes except in the good, propulsion-system way. NASA’s 3D-printed components are performing just as well as the traditionally-made gear, boding well for in-space construction of replacement parts. Long-distance travel, anyone?

Not a square? Instagram lets users post portrait and landscape images
[vimeo id=”137425960″]
‘Square’ doesn’t mean what it used to back in the 50s (the 1950s, that is). But if you’re not availing yourself of Instagram’s new features for your food, sunset and selfie shots then you might bring back that old-school definition – and nobody wants that. Instagram have announced that users will be able to post portrait and landscape images and videos in addition to their traditional square shots. Oh, and video and images can share all the filters now. Have fun.

The Rebel Alliance needs you on Jakku (if you pre-order Star Wars Battlefront)
Man, Battlefront has us all psyched and the newest reveal, that of the Battle of Jakku, isn’t slowing down that particular hype train. And all we’ve seen at this point is artwork. Electronic Arts are making this “…massive, battle-scarred landscape” available to gamers who pre-order Star Wars Battlefront. But they’re doing this one right, as those who don’t pre-order will also get access to this large-scale desert conflict. They’ll just be snagging it a week later, just after the 1 December launch date.
