South Africa’s First National Bank hasn’t been confining its digital innovations to the near vicinity, the banking institution has also been in bringing PayPal to Kenya.
FNB hasn’t done this alone however, they are merely the provider for withdrawals. Also involved in giving Kenya its first access to PayPal is the country’s Equity Bank.
The new service will see Kenyans being able to open PayPal accounts and, provided they have an Equity Bank account tied to their online payment service, being able to withdraw online payments in their local currency. Subject to PayPal’s conditions and a 1.5% withdrawal fee being charged by Equity Bank, of course.
