Samsung was doing extremely well at keeping a lid on the Galaxy S9. 2018 looked to be the year that they managed to keep all of their (not especially surprising) visual secrets until noted leaker Evan Blass did what he always does and posted images of the new Galaxy S9 and S9+ ahead of the official reveal.
Not that the visual confirmation offers many surprises for fans. Samsung was expected to be leaving the design largely static, which is exactly what we see with these official renders. Both the Galaxy S9 and the S9+ will look identical, with height being the main separator. The major differences will all be internal, which would be a new thing. The S8 and S8+ weren’t all that different behind the screen — this year should be different.
The differences won’t be very extensive, though, according to Blass. The S9 will ship with 2017’s 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage but the S9+ will offer 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM — a configuration that will apparently be denied to the S9. The processors, cameras (whatever they turn out to actually consist of) and other internals should be the same across the two versions. Unless, that is, Samsung has any surprises in store. We should know come 25 February when Samsung officially shows the Galaxy S9 family to the world.
