On the fence about Overwatch? Make your call in the upcoming free weekend

If you’ve been living in a bucket for the last year then you might not know what Overwatch is. But it’s possible that you’re still not playing Blizzard’s massive multi-class shooter. Perhaps you just don’t know if you’ll like it. That can change later this month, at no charge.

Blizzard are making Overwatch free-to-play for the weekend of 18-21 November, meaning that anyone with a PC, PlayStation 4 or Xbox One (there are some terms and conditions,  see below) will be able to get their game on.

The free weekend will see all 22 playable characters available, as well as all thirteen maps, and there are going to be four game-modes on offer. Assault, Escort, Assault/Escort (yes, that’s its own mode), and Control will be playable. The point, obviously, is to convince you to buy the game and to that end, Blizzard are making sure that any progress players make during the free weekend will carry over to the full version, should you opt to buy it later.

If you’re keen on playing on PC, you’re going to need a Battle.net account. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One gamers will need a PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live account respectively. For more detailed instructions on how to get your Overwatch on on 18 November, head to the link below.

Stuff South Africa's editor. He's not too sure about this whole 'referring to himself in the third person' thing but hey, all the cool kids are doing it. Brett likes words. Like, more than a friend.
