BlackBerry might be dropping a new touchscreen BlackBerry 10 device on users come Mobile World Congress this year, if a leaked image and spec list for the device prove to be accurate. The images are only renders of the device but a source for Foxconn is reported as saying that we’ll be seen in the real thing at MWC 2014.
The specs for the device, which is believed to be the BlackBerry Z3 (codenamed Jakarta), mark this particular BB10 handset as an entry-level device, something that BlackBerry has yet to get right.
If the rumours are on the ball, users can expect a 5-inch, 960 x 540 display powered by a 1.2GHz dual core processor. Which chip BlackBerry has selected for the device hasn’t been specified. Storage is thought to be in the 8GB region, though there will probably be around 5GB available to users if this is the case. A 5MP rear camera and a 1.1MP front camera are also supposed to be shipping with the device, as is a 2,650mAh battery.
While the Z3 is technically still a rumour at this point, we’ll have confirmation from MWC some time next week.
