Fujifilm announced the X-T3 today, the latest addition to the company’s X-Series lineup of APS-C mirrorless cameras. The mirrorless camera announcements are coming thick and fast of late. Unlike Canon and Nikon, Fujifilm isn’t trying to hop on the full-frame mirrorless bandwagon. Instead, the newly announced X-T3 with its 26.1MP APS-C sensor, is an upgrade to the already excellent X-T2 (one of Stuff’s favourite cameras, incidentally, so needless to say we’re pretty excited to see what the X-T3 has to offer). Not just an upgrade https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWgl4XhIUns The X-T3 houses a new, fourth-gen X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor that is three times faster…

Apple really hopes you are fond of its current unlocking methods, because while Android manufacturers are working on in-display fingerprint sensors, the Apple devices launching this year aren’t expected to revert from Face ID to Touch ID. Industry expert Ming-Chi Kuo expects that Apple won’t bring in-display sensors to its devices any time soon, saying they’d rather stick with their current guns — the (scarily accurate) Face ID unlocking method introduced with the iPhone X. But why though? As people’s security concerns are next level these days — with the volume of recent data breaches making many uneasy — it is…

Canon’s EOS range is getting a full-frame mirrorless addition, right after Nikon announced their first crack at a full-frame mirrorless camera. Finally there’s some solid competition for Sony in the full-frame mirrorless game that it’s been dominating with its A7 series and its legendary low-light performance. To help distinguish between its crop-sensor mirrorless range and the new full-frame one, Canon’s dubbed the new one the EOS R. The camera is built around a 30.3MP full-frame sensor with an ISO range of 100 to 40,000. The sensor uses dual-pixel autofocus and is paired with Canon’s DIGIC 8 image processor. Hello darkness,…

As expected, the internet is smothered in Apple rumours this week, leading up to their launch event on 12 September 2018, and some renders of the upcoming Apple iPad Pro have surfaced. Okay, the leaked renders might not be the real thing — but they’re close enough to the real thing to share with the world, and they look as sleek as we’d expect from anything the Cupertino company puts its name to. At Apple’s launch event, we’ll hopefully see the new iPad Pro announced alongside three new handsets and the 4th generation Apple Watch, but until then we’ll have…

When going on a road trip without decent in-car sound — let’s say the radio’s broken — make sure to pack a Tremor Bluetooth speaker. Just in case you need the auditory muscle. The Tremor is made by Dreamwave, is big and bulky but isn’t basic. It’s got an onboard battery that’ll make most power banks blush, and crisp sound to take on the likes of Harman Kardon and Bowers and Wilkins. Okay not quite, but it puts up a good fight. Essentially it’s got the triple threat – sound, power and looks, like David Hasselhoff in the 90’s. The…

If your neighbourhood has been blessed by the fibre gods, chances are you’ve got a fibre connection or are thinking about getting one. And while the selection of ISPs is growing by the day, you might be more interested in a network you already know, which is why MTN launched their own fibre service, Süpersonic (yip, with an umlaut, nope, we don’t know why, either). Süpersonic is MTN’s play for a stake in the growing FTTH (fibre-to-the-home) market. Their packages will come with full installation, device setup, and onsite support. And if you’re not into signing your life away to massive conglomerates,…

Apple’s about to step up their game, just in time to try and counter Huawei’s sudden rise in the ranks. In September the golden fruit company will announce three new devices, based on the iPhone X, that will enter the market at a range on price points, with a variety of sizes on offer as well as a few new colours. One of these handsets is set to be a budget device, according to a recent report from Bloomberg. You might be wondering why Apple is exploring pricing options beyond ‘expensive’ and ‘more expensive’.  With handsets becoming even more costly with…

Do you own an Android device and struggle with poor impulse control? Is the temptation of sending a strongly worded email to your colleague at 3am after too many glasses of wine just too strong? Upgrading from a phone to a “real camera” is a dream for many, but with the price of camera bodies and the lenses to go with them, it’s out of the realm of the possible for many. To address this, Fujifilm South Africa has launched a rent-to-own programme, which is available to customers online or in bricks-and-mortar stores. As it says on the box, you pay a monthly rental fee for Fujifilm kit, and after a set number of payments it becomes yours. The programme applies to Fujifilm’s X-Series of mirrorless cameras, including the new entry-level X-T100 and the flagship X-H1,…

Logitech announced a new ergonomic mouse, designed to take the pressure off of your fragile wrists. It’s called the MX Vertical, and essentially takes the same design and performance cues as the rest of Logitech’s MX line, but flipped up on its side, like a car on two wheels in an MIA music video (though way less cool). The design of the MX Vertical is meant to reduce strain and movement in the forearm and wrist of its user. Apparently the tilted shape can reduce muscular activity by up to 10 percent compared to a regular mouse. And you won’t…
