My gamertag is more useful than a business card. I write about the tech industry, hardware, software, games, and motoring.

The Huawei Mate 20 (and possibly a Pro version) will be announced at a flashy launch event in London next month, but ahead of that Huawei’s gone and launched the P20 Lite that’ll go on sale on 5 October with a very competitive price tag of R9,000. Huawei’s new mid-ranger boasts a 6.3in FullView notched screen with a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It also has a 3,750mAh battery cell, which should last you the whole working day… and a bit of the Netflixing night. Four on the floor Buyers can look forward to four cameras — two…

We now know how much the new iPhone additions will cost, and we’re not surprised in the slightest. The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max will be available in stores starting 28 September 2018 (with preorders starting tomorrow on the iStore website), and this is how much you’ll have to withdraw from your retirement fund. Earlier today iStore announced pricing for the Apple Watch Series 4 that will be available for pre-order from tomorrow. A day that should be marked on your calendars, because the brand new iPhones can also be pre-ordered from tomorrow, 21 September (aside from the ‘cheaper’…

Whether you’re too young to remember, or a die-hard PlayStation fan who still owns the original console with all the accessories, you’ll be delighted to hear that Sony Computer Entertainment is launching a PlayStation Classic later this year — a small console modelled after the PS1 and pre-loaded with notable PS1 titles. Prepare your nostalgia muscles, because the mini console will be available from 3 December, which is the date PlayStation launched the original console way back in 1994. Samsung appears to be joining the more-than-two-rear-cameras-on-a-smartphone game. Rumours suggest that upcoming Samsung devices, that, it turns out, aren’t part of the flagship range, might feature three and four rear camera sensors, respectively. A Dutch site called GalaxyClub.nl posted a purportedly leaked image of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A7 smartphone, and it definitely has a triple rear camera. They also posted a series of convincing renders, that show the phone in black and blue from every angle. Triple the fun Aside from the three-lens vertical camera module, the latest A7 phone is expected to be specced similarly to the Galaxy…

Apple has just released the final version of iOS 12 into the world. As we know, software updates are primarily to sort out issues and boost performance, but that’s not all you’ll get with the newest iOS update. Apple’s annual update is more of an upgrade, throwing in a raft of new features in addition to tiny under-the-hood fixes that you may never notice — unless you make a point of reading all of the fine print.  Although this update is really all about making your phone (or tablet) work better, there are also an array of new features that…

In the wake of iOS 12 landing for the bigger devices, Apple is updating software for the Apple Watch to WatchOS 5. The update features walkie-talkie capabilities, the ability to listen to podcasts, and brings Siri closer to you… WatchOS 5 will only work with Apple Watch Series 2 and later, and you’ll need to make sure the connected Apple device is updated to iOS 12 (if you still need to do the software update, check out our guide). Also make sure to have the watch charged to at least 50% before attempting the update. With all of the practicalities…

For many consumers, range anxiety remains the key reason they’re reluctant to commit to an electric vehicle (EV). Jaguar’s been undertaking various initiatives to alleviate these concerns, including a recent publicity event that saw an I-Pace driven from London to Brussels on a single charge. And now it’s announced it’s building 82 public charging stations for EVs across South Africa over the next two months. We would’ve expected a massive push to grow the number of charging stations around the country to come from BMW or Nissan, but there you have it. Evidently Jaguar is planning a serious push to get…

If you’re a Spidey fan in any way, make sure to get your hands on the new game by Insomniac, Marvel’s Spider-Man. The gameplay is fluid and beautiful to behold, and it’s the closest thing you’ll get to feeling like you’re flying through the New York skyline without VR. Although Stuff will have a full review up soon, the short demo we got to play gave us the impression that gameplay with the friendly neighbourhood web crawler will no doubt make all your Spidey-senses tingle. The character moves with graceful agility while throwing punches and kicks like a seasoned superhero…

The Apple hype is not over yet, but following last night’s event the world is three new iPhones and an updated Apple Watch richer. And though those are very cool and all, we can’t shake the feeling that Apple forgot half the program at yesterday’s keynote. Like some intern accidentally deleted essential files and they just decided to roll with it. The grand event revealed three similar-looking iPhones, a watch that can sense heart rhythms and… no accessories for any of these products. If you in any way keep tabs on the brand (like we do), you might have been expecting…
