It’s been a long time in coming but Nokia/Microsoft’s Lumia smartphones have finally gotten access to Adobe’s Photoshop Express app. The newly-launched app is now available on South Africa’s Windows Phone app store as a free app, with certain features being available as an in-app purchase. Any Lumia running Windows Phone 8.1 with 512MB of RAM will be able to run the Adobe software, which has quite a few features available out of the box. Basic editing and red-eye removal, brightness, exposure and shadow adjustments and colour slider controls are part of the default app, as is a set of filters…

We love headphones. Headphones are more than just friends around the Stuff offices, they’re lifelong companions and once we’ve got a good set we really don’t want to let them go. That is the case with Monster’s DNA portable cans, we’re not that keen to see them leave. The reasoning is simple, they fold up small enough to fit into a tech-packed laptop bag without consuming too much space, they’re fairly comfortable and the DNA is effective at blocking out noise in the midst of our typical chaotic workday. Constructive Some of you will be familiar with Monster’s DNA, it’s…

The wearables race, on the fitness front, is hotting up further as several leaks indicate that Adidas is looking to juice up the market with a whole new wearable that is aimed at the likes of Nike’s FuelBand. The company already has the miCoach SmartRun but another wrist-based gadget, called the miCoach Fit Smart, looks to be on the way. At least, that is the story told by leaks at the FCC and trademark info found at LegalForce, with images coming courtesy of Keller Sports. Details on the band are sketchy, with no official specs or functions making up the leaked…

DStv and Stuff, when we’re not playing with gadgetry or keeping tabs on the latest football scores, are giving away two DStv Walka handheld units so that two lucky winners will be able to watch the Brazilian FIFA World Cup final wherever they happen to be. Whether that location is appropriate is wholly up to the winner – we’re not taking any blame for that. As with all of our competitions, becoming eligible is up to you unless you happen to work for Stuff Magazine in some capacity. We’ve already had to disqualify a few of the folks in the…

Yesterday we saw what Sony’s PlayStation Plus offering was for the month of July and now, right on cue, it’s Microsoft’s turn with details of their own subscriber-based giveaway for next month. Unlike PS Plus, which deactivates free games when a subscriber’s account lapses, the Xbox 360 offering is permanent, whether you remain an Xbox Live Gold member or not. The downside is that Microsoft usually only gives away two games a month. This month, Xbox Live Gold members will have two Xbox Live Arcade titles gratis, with the first being available from 1 July to 15 July. That would…

More on the wearables front, with everyone making their plays for a piece of the smart wristwear pie. One of the entrants-to-be is Asus, a company that has previously stated their intentions concerning the release of a smartwatch. Now, a new report from TechCrunch claims that September this year is when the company wants to launch their tech upon the world. So to speak. Citing a source “…familiar with the company’s plans”, TechCrunch says that Asus is looking to release an AMOLED-wielding smartwatch that could have some interesting features. Gesture control is one that has been hinted at in the…

Don’t panic, these are not going to be real cows lugging around wireless hotspots as they wander through masses of festival-goers. Though, on reflection, that would be a far more interesting sight than what is actually planned. One of the UK’s largest music festivals, the Glastonbury Festival, will be rolling out enough internet access and other technology-related improvements during this year’s event to keep concert attendees happy. The internet access is noteworthy because British ISP EE will be providing free 4G internet access that will be broadcast from fiberglass cows dotted around the event. The cows will, of course, be…

[youtube url=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pY6z12_dnP8″] Microsoft’s Halo protagonist Master Chief is set to make the jump to roads everywhere at an unspecified time next year when collectibles company NECA finalises and releases a motorcycle helmet based around the iconic Spartan’s headgear. They’re only showing off the sculpted prototype so far, having decided to reveal their plans to coincide with the Halo: The Master Chief Collection game announcement from E3 this year, but it’s looking good enough to satisfy fans as well as long-time riders. When completed, the faceplate and visor will lift together in order to give the rider some air but we’re…

Oculus Rift, Project Morpheus, whatever Samsung has planned… it seems that the world has gone bonkers for VR and Google’s unafraid to jump on the bandwagon. The difference is, the search company is doing it with nothing but cardboard. And a smartphone. And maybe a magnet and some rubber bands. But that’s a whole lot less costly than a whole new peripheral living in your home. It seems like Google would be kidding about Cardboard, which is what their VR headset/smartphone/app combination is known as. Introduced at Google I/O this year, the concept is quite simple. Fold some cardboard in…

Each and every month, Sony and Microsoft give away a couple of games free of charge on their respective online services.
