Announced last month, Amazon has now launched their Android app store to nearly 200 new countries. South Africa is included on the app store access list.
Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ are also now available for pre-order in over 170 countries, a bit of a step up from the 7 countries that the device was officially available in previously. The shipping date for the devices is 13 June. South Africa has had access to the Kindle Fire HD through online retailers for some time.
To celebrate the rollout of the app store Amazon is going to be giving away mobile games Fruit Ninja and Cut the Rope: Experiments free of charge for today and tomorrow.
Amazon Vice President of Apps and Games Michael George said in a statement “By further expanding the distribution of apps to millions of customers around the world, we are continuing to make it easy for customers to enjoy their Amazon apps on Kindle Fire and any Android device.”
