Although slightly late (MTN, iStore, PlayStation and Xbox have all already come to the party), Huawei has decided to join in the fun and announced the its specials for this Black Friday.
We’re quite sure you’ve already got your credit card handy (as you’ve likely been making online purchases since a hair past midnight). But unfortunately Huawei doesn’t have any standalone special prices for handsets this year — only special discounts through service providers.
Key amongst them is one of our favourite devices of 2018, the Huawei P20 Pro. It has a superb camera and a massive battery that can last two days, and it’s currently our favourite non-phablet smartphone.
Sadly, though Huawei’s Black Friday deals include a number of different handsets, its most recent, the Mate 20 Pro, that launched last month is conspicuous in its absence. But the consolation prize is the Huawei Mate 20 Lite, which is pretty much a flagship in sheep’s clothing.
Where to get a Huawei today
Black Friday, Huawei Edition, starts today. It really depends on the service provider, but you should be able to get a Huawei sometime this weekend.

Telkom (23 Nov – 25 Nov): Get a Huawei P Smart on contract for R149/month (reduced from R199/month) and get an extra 10GB of data for 6 months. You can also get a Huawei Mate 20 Lite for R399/month, and get an extra 5GB of data for 24 months.
MTN (23 Nov – 25 Nov): You can get a Huawei P Smart on a 12-month Made for Me contract with a free 14GB Entertainment for R299/month. Or the Huawei P10 with the same perks for R449/month. You could also get a Huawei P10 and a Huawei Media Pad T2 for R449/month. Or a Huawei P20 on a 12-month Made for Me contract with a free 14GB Entertainment pass and a Huawei Media Pad T2 for R669/month.
You might not know this… yet. But Stuff Magazine also has a Black Friday special running, and you can score a year’s worth of magazines (actual printed copies) for half price! Go here for more info.
