Samsung Galaxy Note 9 owners got the first taste of Fortnite on Android a few months ago. And after that the only way to gain access to the game was by receiving a coveted ‘invite’ from Epic Games. That’s changed, finally.
Now almost anyone with Android 8.0 Oreo or higher (to find out if you have a compatible device, head here) can download and play the battle royale game on their mobile. Fortnite tweeted a link late yesterday with a few easy-to-follow steps to getting on the bus.

If you happen to open the link on a desktop just make sure to scan the QR code with the Android phone in question and the game will download on your device — if it fits the system requirements. If you’re browsing on your phone, just go to the Android part of the Fortnite website to download the game.
Epic Games is still trying to eliminate the issue of not having their game on the Google Play Store — in a bid to keep the game free and not pay a third party for hosting. Fortnite also doesn’t need the exposure or extra punts from the Play store, because most people are already aware the game exists.
