Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last seven months, you’ll know that the inaugural Comic Con Africa is approaching at a rapid pace. Organisers Reed Exhibitions (and partners) have been detailing international guests at a trickle and we’ve just got the most recent announcement today — Anthony Mackie will be making the trip to Johannesburg.
Mackie, as you’ll know if you’re a MCEU nut, plays Sam Wilson — also known as Falcon — in the Captain America, Avengers, and Ant-Man films. He was last seen towards the end of Avengers: Infinity War (you know what was going on) and we may have a few questions about what actually happened there when we see him in person… Whether he’ll answer is another story.
Anthony Mackie has also been seen in The Hurt Locker, Million Dollar Baby, The Adjustment Bureau, 8 Mile, and Half Nelson and has most recently starred in Paul Bettany’s (The Vision) directorial debut Shelter alongside Jennifer Connolly. He also portrayed Martin Luther King Jr. in the multi-Emmy-nominated All The Way, with Bryan Cranston. An impressive roster but we suspect that a lot of the questions he fields from attendees this September will be about Thanos.
Mackie will be joining Kevin Sussman, Travis Fimmel, Yetide Badaki, Chris Sprouse, Andy Diggle, and Ricky Whittle at Comic Con Africa at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit & International Convention Centre from 14 to 16 September this year, along with more than a few local cosplayers. Tickets for Saturday and Sunday have sold out but there are still some slots available for Friday, if you’ve been leaving things to the last minute. Get moving.
*EDIT: Anthony Mackie will only be at Comic Con Africa on the Friday and Saturday — sorry Sunday ticket-holders.
