Logitech announced a new ergonomic mouse, designed to take the pressure off of your fragile wrists. It’s called the MX Vertical, and essentially takes the same design and performance cues as the rest of Logitech’s MX line, but flipped up on its side, like a car on two wheels in an MIA music video (though way less cool).
The design of the MX Vertical is meant to reduce strain and movement in the forearm and wrist of its user. Apparently the tilted shape can reduce muscular activity by up to 10 percent compared to a regular mouse. And you won’t need to move your mouse as vigorously, because the sensor supports up to 4,000 DPI (the higher this number, the faster the cursor moves across the screen). This means that the mouse could move 4,000 pixels for every inch.
There’s also a dedicated button on top of the MX Vertical that allows users to easily adjust between higher and lower DPI settings, along with the option to press and drag the mouse for finer adjustments. Also, the battery should last up to four months off a single charge, and recharging happens via USB-C.
The MX Vertical will cost $99.99 (or roughly R1,500, not accounting for the inevitable local mark up) and we’re not sure if or when it’ll make it to South African shores, or if it’ll come in a left-handed version. But if you want a mouse you can operate like a gear lever right now or you can feel the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome creeping up, there are other vertical mouse options available on Takealot, check it out.
