Dark Souls is the sort of game that will make even the most patient among us grit their teeth until a few molars have been ground to a fine powder. Those with a bit of a temper will find themselves throwing TVs and lodging game controllers in walls — it may not be such a great idea to put a game like that on a console you hold in both hands…
That is just what’s happening with the launch of Dark Souls Remastered, which is the same as Dark Souls but prettier. It was slated to launch on the Switch this May, along with some Dark Souls-themed Amiibo that we’re totally getting the moment they hit stores. But that does mean your Switch is about to become a throwing hazard.
But your console (and sanity) will be spared a little longer. Dark Souls Remastered for the Switch has been delayed to “summer”, so some time in South Africa’s winter cycle. The PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions will still be releasing on time so expecting them on 25 May this year.
The delay, according to the Dark Souls Twitter account, is blamed on the “nature of causality”, which is something we’d expect them to say. We have no idea what it actually means, however. Most likely, the development team just needed a little more time get the game working as it should on Nintendo’s console.
Thankfully publisher Namco Bandai cleared things up in a press release, saying “The new release timing gives the development team the time needed to make sure Nintendo Switch players can fully appreciate the true ‘Dark Souls’ experience anytime and anywhere, thanks to the unique portable nature of the Nintendo Switch console.”
Due to the nature of causality, we must announce that the Nintendo Switch version of #DarkSoulsRemastered will be pushed back to summer of 2018, and with it, the release of the Solaire of Astora amiibo.
PC/PS4/X1 versions will maintain their May 25th release date.

Whenever it launches, Stuff will be one of the first in line to praise the sun. Though, we really could do without having to repeat the heartbreaking battle with Sif, the Great Grey Wolf. And repeating the Capra Demon fight, but that’s for the complete opposite reason.
