Some of you might remember Candy Crush Saga, others might have made a lot of headway coping with your addition. What just about nobody is asking for, no matter how involved they are/were in the matching mobile-game-slash-Skinner-Box, is a TV show based on the game’s premise.
The show is going to be called Candy Crush and it’ll be an hour-long game show format. Apparently the CBS-created show will see “…teams of two people use their wits and physical agility to compete on enormous, interactive game boards featuring next generation technology to conquer Candy Crush and be crowned the champion.” We assume there’s a cash prize or something and they aren’t just going to keep contestants in a box until they’re needed.
The show is being made by Matt Kunitz, the mind behind the American Fear Factor (and other shows), as well as King’s chief creative officer Sebastian Knutsson. The partnership is to make sure that the match-3 concept that Candy Crush Saga ‘borrowed’ from elsewhere is correctly… adhered… to…?
The idea of a Candy Crush game show strikes us as a pointless and possibly boring endeavour but Sony is on the verge of releasing a movie about emoji… so perhaps this isn’t the most terribly adaptation idea we’ve ever heard of. At the very least, we’re morbidly interested in seeing what the final concept for this show looks like. An on-air timeline isn’t known, yet.
