Timed exclusives are a funny thing. Take Rise of the Tomb Raider, which debuted last year on the Xbox One as an exclusive. The PlayStation 4 release was delayed as a result but…
But for those who have waited, the PlayStation 4 version of Rise of the Tomb Raider looks to be the one to get. If the 20 Year Celebration trailer (yup, Lara Croft is 20 years old) is anything to go by, Sony console fans are set to have the best experience that the series can offer. The full campaign is being joined by a whole mess of extras that Xbox One and PC players… had to pay extra for. And there are a few bits that early adopters didn’t get.
Besides adventuring through the events of Rise of the Tomb Raider, players will also get to explore Croft Manor in the new Blood Ties add-on, save Croft Manor from… zombies?… in the Lara’s Nightmare add-on and there is also every other bit of downloadable content released so far included in the PlayStation 4 launch. Various player skins and weapon packs are included from the outset, so you can play as the original Lara Croft if you really feel like showing your age.
The PS4 is also getting a new co-op gameplay mode, as well as VR support for when the PlayStation VR lands. You can expect the PlayStation 4 and PC editions of Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration to drop on 11 October, which is right around the corner. We can’t wait.
