Everything can be made better with a little Freddy Mercury but the trailer for Suicide Squad, which is set to release on circuit in August this year, would have looked good even without Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody in the background. A little more is revealed about the circumstances of the Squad’s assembly in this outing. We’re hoping for a montage in the film proper.
Collecting DC’s super-villains in one place, even when they’re all in a prison, isn’t usually a good idea, as the Batman can attest. But using them to accomplish a nearly impossible mission with the promise of freedom if they succeed (and almost certain death if they fail), is just sound allocation of available resources, right? That’s why we’ve got Harley Quinn, Killer Croc, Deadshot, Enchantress, Captain Boomerang, El Diablo, and Slipknot all teaming up to do… something for the US government. Something secret. And deadly.
The Joker, played by Jared Leto, is also a fixture of Suicide Squad, and viewers can expect a very different sort of tale from the superhero films we’re all used to. If we were going to judge a film solely on its trailer then Suicide Squad is going to be a spectacle at the very least. We’d obviously like it to be more than that but just spectacle would be enough. There’s a reason they are still letting Michael Bay make films.
