Where can we get ourselves one of these military-grade thermite cutting torches?
Where has the TEC Torch been all our lives? Not for any specific reason, just because we’ve always wanted to cut through metal in seconds using thermite. And now someone is mass producing it! Targeted at the military and emergency services, to be quite fair, but we can totally see a South African braai-master showing off by starting his fire with 2,200-degree (Celsius) metal vapour. Right before they blast their hands off like Luke Skywalker messing with a light saber. Kidding, manufacturer EMPI have accounted for that. Awesome, either way.

Marketing or movie? Doesn’t matter at this point, 100 Years has done its immediate job
It’s certainly an interesting concept. Create a movie, then lock it in a vault for 100 years. And then promote the fact that nobody now living will be able to see the film in order to give some coverage to Remy Martin’s 100-year-old Louis XIII cognac. Assuming this isn’t just a massive troll (and, really, how would you know?) we’ll never see John Malkovich in this Robert Rodriguez-directed vision of what the world will look like a century from now. In the meantime, check out the teaser which… is more about making the film than the film itself. 100 Years launches on 18 November 2115 and the event will be invitation-only. The people attending haven’t been born yet.

LG had canned the LTE-sporting Watch Urbane 2nd Edition, citing hardware issues
Well, crap. If you were hoping to get your hands on one of LG’s Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE Android Wear watches, think again. The company has just cancelled the rollout, saying “late in the quality assurance process for the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE, our engineers were made aware of a hardware issue which affects the day-to-day functionality of the device.” Sounds pretty serious if they are willing to halt everything at this point in time. LG aren’t sure whether the Android Wear wristwear will launch, that decision will be taken at a later stage. For now though, no Watch Urbane 2nd Edition for anyone.

We don’t even have one and someone’s already torn down the Apple Pencil
Are you going to want an Apple Pencil, assuming you can find one anywhere? That really depends. Are you going to be willing to replace it outright if something goes wrong? A teardown of Apple’s latest peripheral shows that it’s impossible to open, let alone repair, Once open, though, you’ll find that there’s more metal inside than you would think. Just for the added weight, it seems. Catch the whole teardown in the video above, or at the link below.
Beyond: Two Souls remaster launching on PS4 this month, Heavy Rain to follow
Quantic Dream might be Sony’s go-to for technology demos but they also make games. And by games we mean they make interactive movies. The next one is called Detroit but before it lands we’re getting remasters of some of Quantic’s back catalogue on the PlayStation 4. First is Beyond: Two Souls, which will become available from 24 November. Beyond follows Jodie Holmes and Aiden though some… interesting territory. Then we can expect serial-killer hunt Heavy Rain, which will be rocking up on the PS4 in March next year. Brace yourself for a bit of body horror in that one if you missed it the first time around.
