These are the specs you can expect from Samsung’s next smartwatch

Samsung’s upcoming round-faced smartwatch, known as Orbis, has had a fair amount of information made public concerning its appearance and a little about its functionality but the specs have been tucked away where no-one can find them so far. Until now, obviously, because the Samsung Gear A – which is what Orbis will be known as on the market – has had a spec sheet leak.

The spec sheet, first spotted by SamMobile, had given us a lot more information to work with including the screen type and dimensions as well as a comprehensive look at the Gear A’s internals.

The Gear A will have a 360 x 360 Super AMOLED display. There’s some doubt about the size of the screen, but 1.65-inches is the figure being bandied about right now. It’ll have an Exynos 3472 chip, a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, as well as 768MB of RAM and 4GB of storage. The battery is set to be a paltry 250mAh but aside from this spec, the contents of the Gear A wouldn’t disgrace an entry-level Android smartphone.

Bluetooth 4.1 is destined to be the main method of connectivity for this Tizen-powered watch, though there’s a WiFi and WiFi-Direct sporting version on the cards as well. It’ll be packing a good load of sensors as well: An accelerometer, GPS, barometer and heart-rate sensor will all be included.

On paper the Gear A sounds like smartwatch magic from Samsung, though we’d still like to get our hands on it before that opinion of this upcoming wearable gets any more positive.
