So you’re out in your fields, harvesting crops and ploughing or looking after animals. The problem is that it isn’t real enough for you. That might be because you’re playing Farming Simulator, a surprisingly popular game that revolves around owning and operating a farm.
But, as we said, maybe driving your virtual tractor isn’t real enough. That’s where Saitek, a division of peripheral maker Mad Catz, comes in. They’ve got a Farming Simulator peripheral on the way, available for pre-order now, that simulates the steering wheel, pedals and side panel of a piece of very expensive farming equipment. Just in case you need to up your game.
The peripheral promises “…deep-rooted sense of immersion and enjoyment, all while driving vehicles and operating attachments with a finer degree of control”, for those serious digital farmers out there (you know who you are). At the moment, Saitek’s PC/Mac-only addon is going for $300 (R3,750), which isn’t a small chunk of change. But that just adds to the realism, farming equipment is generally massively costly.
