We were one of the first to get our hands on the device, which is coming to Asian markets later in the year. The Butterfly 2 is based on the Japan-only high-end HTC J Butterfly, with a few new features to go along with its new moniker.
Just like its cousin, the HTC J Butterfly, the Butterfly 2 will come in glossy red and blue finishes, and a more zen-like matte white finish.
The Butterfly 2 weighs in at 151g, and sports a 5in, 1080p full-HD display, a 13MP duo-camera back snapper with dual-sensor setup, a 5MP front-facing camera, Snapdragon 801 SoC, 2GB RAM and an option of 16GB or 32GB of internal memory (expandable to 128GB). It will run on Android 4.4 KitKat and have TDD-LTE connection capabilities.
In addition, it’s packed with HTC’s standard added-value features, including the Sense 6 Android skin with BlinkFeed, Motion Launch and HTC BoomSound, amongst others. Oh, and this Butterfly can swim, too; it’s IP57-certified for water and dust resistance (go ahead, we dare you to try dunking it in water).
Whether we’ll see it over here is a mystery for the moment, but based on the Japan-only handsets HTC has made, we might never see an official release. Stay tuned, we’ll update the story as soon as we have more information.
