You know what would be awesome? If we could give voice replies to instant messaging through a smartwatch instead of having to haul out a smartphone and manually enter characters. You know what would be even more awesome? If it was already here. Well guess what? It is.
Instant messaging service WhatsApp is adding support for Android Wear devices in the latest beta version of their app. Though WhatsApp has supported wearable devices in the past, the new update adds the ability to view stacked notifications, full previews of messages and the ability to reply to those messages using your voice. Dick Tracy would be proud.
At the moment the update, which should soon go live on Google’s Play Store, only supports Android Wear smartwatches, none of which have been sighted this side of the world as yet so don’t get too excited about the upgrade. But if you’re one of those people who likes to get their connected lives together, Android Wear might be the best option.
Of course, if you somehow have access to one of these wrist-adornments, you can just head to the link above to get the WhatsApp upgrade right now.
