Massive fan of Ubisoft’s prolific Assassin’s Creed series? Then hopefully you haven’t sold your PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 to make way for the newer consoles, as the French company has detailed a second Assassin’s Creed that will release this year just for that hardware.
In addition to Assassin’s Creed Unity, which puts players into Revolutionary France on the PS 4 and Xbox One, fans will also get a chance to return to the New World and sail a ship around as a new protagonist with a new focus. Assassin’s Creed Rogue will put players into the shoes of Shay Patrick Cormac, who couldn’t sound more Irish if he tried.
The thing about Shay is that he will be an unusual character for the series, a former Assassin who is out hunting his former brothers after they betrayed him. So you’re playing as a Templar for the first time in the series. That should be fun.
Ubisoft promises that the oceanic combat that impressed us in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will be making a return for this title and also that it has been tweaked with new weapons and a new ship, the Morrigan. There’s that whole Irish thing again. New weapons will also be available on land as players roam the North Atlantic, the Appalachian River Valley and New York.
The release date? 11 November this year. Ubi have also detailed the pre-order content but nothing official has been confirmed for South Africa so far. We’ll keep you posted.
