The latest update to Google Maps for the desktop includes a rather useful, if not playful feature being implemented that allows you to plot custom points anywhere you want.
Previously only available by enabling the experimental Google Labs feature, custom plotting now allows users to plan their own map, and Google will even measure the distance between your points, and for your overall journey as well.
To use the option, right click anywhere on the map and select “Measure distance”. To extend your route click on your destination and right click select “Distance to here”. You can add and move the points around as you wish, to plan your roadtrip, the perfect cycling route or just to draw things over Emmarentia park.
