Yesterday we saw what Sony’s PlayStation Plus offering was for the month of July and now, right on cue, it’s Microsoft’s turn with details of their own subscriber-based giveaway for next month. Unlike PS Plus, which deactivates free games when a subscriber’s account lapses, the Xbox 360 offering is permanent, whether you remain an Xbox Live Gold member or not. The downside is that Microsoft usually only gives away two games a month.
This month, Xbox Live Gold members will have two Xbox Live Arcade titles gratis, with the first being available from 1 July to 15 July. That would be Gotham City Impostors, which is a team-based multiplayer game that pits players – who are pretending to be Batman and the Joker – and a selection of strange weapons against each other in a fight for supremacy and bragging rights.
Then, from 16 July to the end of the month, BattleBlock Theatre will be available for free download. This one is a tougher proposition as players will be roaming a very hazardous theatre in order to save a friend, Hatty Hattington. There will be cats.
Of course, this means that Xbox Live Gold Members are running out of time to get their hands on the current games available, Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition and co-op punk band brawler Charlie Murder.
