Sony have been testing out their PlayStation Now streaming service for some time, with invitations being issued to some PlayStation 3 users way back in January this year. The company has decided to kick things up a notch and start up the private beta of the service for PlayStation 4 users as well and that leg of the test will be starting up later today.
The expanded beta program for the PS 4 will function in the same way that the PS 3 tests did. Users (limited to the US for the moment, sadly) will be sent a voucher code via email that will allow them to download and test PlayStation Now’s streaming capabilities. At the same time, Sony is planning on expanding the reach of the beta for PlayStation 3 users so there should be even more invitations heading out soon.
Sony will be launching their PlayStation Now service before the end of this year, according to the company, and it will be featured first on the PS 3, PS 4, the PlayStation Vita and “…selected Bravia TVs”. It should only be a matter of time before most, if not all, Sony TV sets come with game-streaming capabilities preinstalled. Hope you’ve hung onto at least one PlayStation 3 controller.
