Stuff has been following the game that has become Ghost Recon Phantoms for quite some time, since back when it was known as Ghost Recon Online. The free-to-play online title, which is based on the Ghost Recon series of games, has undergone several changes in the last couple of years and developer Ubisoft have released a new video detailing just what the latest crop of differences are.
Ubisoft are trying to make it easier for players to match up with others who are around the same skill level, something that has long been a concern for those who design and develop online multiplayer games. Nobody likes being trounced because they ended up on a team with three n00bs and a grandmother who was just trying to sign into Facebook, especially when the grandmother plays better than they do (true story).
Phantoms lead designer Simon Davis said “We wanted to find a way for players to differentiate themselves on the battlefield and create weapons that fit their style. This new system is more cost savvy for players and creates more than half a million weapon configuration possibilities including fire rate, handling, scope and ready-time.”
