    Twitter testing new views-per-tweet feature

Twitter is testing a new feature that will be familiar to some Facebook users and which might never see the light of day for average Twitter users. The company is examining the possibility of giving Twitter users tweet view statistics, basically, the number of times that people have seen a given tweet.

The test isn’t official and, when questioned about the feature which was spotted by The Verge, Twitter declined to comment.

Giving users the ability to see in real-time how many eyeballs have made it onto a particular tweet could be a good move for the company, in that it will encourage more active participation on the micro-blogging service. It could just as easily lead to less participation for some users however, if they become discouraged by a lack of engagement from their followers.
