Marvel has added real sound to its comic book reader app

Marvel is to add, in what it probably hopes will be a watershed moment for comic books, sound to its comic reader app, Marvel Unlimited. The latest update, which went live yesterday, includes access to a five-comic storyline that is scored by Emmy-nominated composer, David Ari Leon.

The storyline chosen for this new development is Captain America: The Winter Soldier, written by Ed Brubaker, and runs through issues 8, 9, and 11 through 14.

The move to revolutionize comic books is supposedly one that’s been going for some time, with Marvel also having attempted to create Motion Comics, which would add animation to comic books, but that feature is still being tinkered with. For now, we’re left with sound. Whether that’s a good thing remains to be seen.
