LG is attempting to bring a handset to market this year that features a flexible OLED display, the company said in a call to discuss its financial results.
LG’s vice president of mobile Yoon Bu-hyun said that the company’s mobile arm is working with LG Display to launch a handset featuring the tech. The phone is expected to land in the fourth quarter of 2013. The likelihood of a completely flexible smartphone is very small but chances are that a flexible OLED display will be used to produce a curved device.
Just what it will look like isn’t known but LG also has designs on curved television sets that use the same flexible display technology. The curved TVs from the Korean company are also expected to appear some time this year.
