Microsoft have previously hinted that the size of the Surface tablet won’t be staying static and a new report has, ahem, surfaced claiming that Redmond is preparing a 7-inch version of their Surface hardware for launch later this year.
Microsoft would be foolish not to release a smaller version of the Surface, considering just how well that form factor is doing at the moment. Tablets in general are shipping in huge numbers and the smaller devices are selling more than double the units of the larger ones.
The report, via the Wall Street Journal, also claims that Microsoft is working on a smartphone but there is no indication where it might be in the development process or whether it will release at all.
