Sales of Sony’s PlayStation 3 console have passed, as of 4 November this year, 70 million units worldwide according to an announcement from the Japanese company.
Sony also revealed that the Move motion controller for the PS3 has sold 15 million units as of 11 November.
It has taken the company 6 years and several iterations of the PS3 console to reach this milestone. America competitor Microsoft managed to reach the same numbers in September this year, making the console sales a close-run thing considering the Xbox 360 was released a year earlier.
However both consoles are playing catch-up to Nintendo’s Wii, which has sold over 97 million units since its launch.
