Another report has surfaced that claims that Apple’s new iPad mini will be announced later on this month. Unlike earlier reports, this one states that 23 October is the date set for the reveal. The first date expected for the launch was 17 October but rumoured production hassles may have been responsible for the delay.
The report, which comes by way of AllThingsD, says that “[p]eople familiar with Apple’s plans” have given the date of the invitation-only event as 23 October, adding that it will probably take place at Apple’s Town Hall Auditorium.
Unusually, 23 October is on a Tuesday, throwing off some of Apple’s traditional patterns for product releases. This date is just days before Microsoft’s Surface tablet goes on sale, so there may be some logic behind revealing a smaller iPad at this time.
