Sony reveals 84-inch 4K Bravia TV, available in SA soon

Sony yesterday revealed a new 84″ BRAVIA LCD TV, which features one of the largest screens of its type on television sets today.

The latest BRAVIA features a 4K LCD panel, which boasts a resolution of 3840 x 2160. The display is powered by Sony’s 4K X-Reality PRO “super-resolution high picture quality engine”, showing off four times the resolution of a standard HD panel. According to Sony the new TV features a 60 degree viewing angle in addition  to the increased number of pixels onscreen.

Senior brand manager for Sony South Africa Andrew Fraser said “This television re-defines image quality. The super-high resolution and large screen size ensure a picture experience that is close to reality – 4K is massive jump in resolution and image quality even when compared to so-called Full High Definition (1080 line) displays.”

The 4K BRAVIA is scheduled for South African release some time before the end of 2012 while PlayStation 3 tech PlayMemories Studio, used for viewing high-res images, is set for a local release for the TV before March 2013. There are no pricing details for the local version of the 4K BRAVIA at the moment.
