Apple has climbed to the top of the Japanese smartphone market, which has historically been hostile to foreign manufacturers.
Apple’s iPhone has been driving their increase in market share. The company now accounts for 26.6% of smartphone sales in Japan, followed by Fujitsu (18.3%) and Sharp (15.7%).
Shipments of phones to Japan increased by 15..2% from 2010 to 201 according to research company IDC Japan. Of the total shipped to the country, smartphones accounted for 64..7%.
